Day Twenty-three Continued: Home at Last, June 11, 2012

Since I had sold Sayid this morning, Dan suggested that we drive all the way home instead of stopping at Brown County State Park, as we had planned. I was still upset and agreed that driving straight home would be nice since I would get to see my other horses and not be so sad. It was a 12 ½ hour drive. We didn’t get started until around 8:00 because Sayid’s new owners were meeting friends and trailering back to Georgia. Sayid stepped right up into their three horse trailer like he didn’t notice it was a different one than he had been traveling in.

We took off with the expectation of being home around 8:00 PM. It didn’t turn out that way. We ran into bad traffic at rush hour in Cinncinati. That lost us an hour. Then we had a tire fall apart on the trailer on I-71. Fortunately, another driver flagged us over and we were able to change it right there ourselves. It was in shreds, and again I thanked God for safety. We finally got home around 10:00 at night. I was exhausted, but too tired to go right to sleep. It was wonderful being in our own bed again. This Adventure of a Lifetime was so good for the horses and we experienced the USA in a way only a few travelers do. We are already talking about our next trip and where we will ride. Maybe this time we will take Rajan and Hasani!
